A thin, fan-shaped laser sheet sweeps across the weld, tracing a bright line over every contour it touches. That reflected line travels through a custom Scheimpflug-aligned lens stack, so each point—near or far—strikes the CMOS sensor in razor-sharp focus. From the angle between the emitted plane and the captured image, SkyBlue-NT triangulates a full 3-D profile of the joint in real-time, ready for guidance or quality analysis.
Every video frame yields a razor-thin stripe of points. Because SkyBlue-NT is factory-calibrated to the robot’s tool-center point, that stripe is converted on the fly into absolute robot coordinates. As the torch travels, successive stripes stitch together into a high-density 3-D point cloud of the workpiece—ready for path planning, deviation mapping, or digital-twin archiving.
